He is from way back in the 50s and wrote well about stuff like ET and space beings. Mostly he was a guy that had a good imagination and told stories.

Jim, do some homework. Show me any book of Velikovsky where he wrote about ET's and space beings. I presume by your remarks that you either have never actually read Velikovsky or have but choose to make fun of him because you regard his ideas as nonsense. Velikovsky was not a crank but a highly educated man who proposed a hypothesis. I don't think he was right but that does not make him a crank nor does it excuse the insulting and juvenile behavior he got from the scientific community. It's easy to poke fun at dead people that you have never met. If I seem a little kneejerk here it is because I have personally met most of the major figures in the Velikovsky movement and found them to be very polite good spirited individuals that do not deserve the personal character assassination that they routinely get. By the way, some of us from "way back in the 50's" have advanced a little bit past the neanderthal stage.

Can you tell me what he wrote about? Maybe I'm mixing him up with another person. You asked what anyone thought about him and I am not mocking him.

Jim,
Immanuel Velikovsky is no Zecharia Sitchin. The only thing in common they have is ethnicity. Check about Velikovsky here www.varchive.org . In one word - Velikovsky is a huge and controversial character.

I've read a couple of Vel's books and found them very interesting. Can't say I accept everything line, hook and sinker but he at least gave plausible explanations to many issues that had otherwise been bastardized.
