Not sure, lemko. It looks fascinating though. Exposed remnant of some underground lava channel? Peculiar feature of a non-tectonic geology? Giant root system? Underground alien transit system? (my preferred order)
But I think the two little craters at middle right will get the alien civilisation fellows twitching for their image enhancers - a couple of decidedly odd formations inside those rims!
(come to think of it, the crater at bottom left has a similar formation!)
...and what's that little bright thing in the small clear(ed?) area at about 8 o'clock to the pair of craters.
VERY interesting image - xterrester - if you're out there - take a look at this one!

It could be a geological creation, but then geology is as wierd as biology, it seams to me. As we know minerals can do square objects with perfect edges too. But this?
I wonder why this image is not circulating. I read about it a year ago in a single article (that I lost). Then I searched for the name: m15012/m1501228b and found it on this gov server. I remember I figured out the worm must be some hundreds of meters in height.

Not sure if you've seen this, but Dr van Flandern's highlighted this feature within a slidepack available at -

There are some peculiar images covering all aspects of the "Potential Artificiality" hypothesis. I'm still skeptical about artificiality, but a lot of experts in a variety of fields have contributed and the link is well worth a look.

I am slightly biased towards the validity of the artificiality hypothesis but I don't think this image offers any proof. Actually, I believe all images leaked are so done in purpose to increase ambiguity.
The "worm" looks like it came off the ground, and the breaking is evident at the top. After looking at the image I think it is made of irregular plates stack at an angle. These plates were probably formed by shear forces on amorphous lava caused by an earthquake.
From a distance, it apperas that the plates form a tube like structure but that's an optical illusion.
I have not seen a single image from Mars so far that will convince me of artificiality, but I don't think they would release any of those, anyway.

thank you, the lava accumulation is plausible and I didn't think of this before. Still we don't have something like that on earth and I think this a good image to study mars geology.
I do wonder why I never saw this image anywhere else... its fascinating, its just what sci-fi told you to expect on mars.
