Wilson, just out of curiosity, how do you clock FTL speeds?

What a ridiculous question. How do you propose even to talk about speed without a clock?

If you have a valid refutation of the extensive body of literature cataloging FTL experiments, let's hear it. I have provided the bibliography on this literature elsewhere on these boards. Can we see your refuting bibliography? I can't wait.

THAT, is a GREAT question. Obviously I'm no where near as up-to-speed as you are on FTL. However, I do believe my curiosity is valid which should make my question reasonable. Speed is a measurement of Distance divided by Time and, in this case, Time *could* be a period designated for a given activity. Clocking is the measurement of Time. In SR time stops at light speed. According to SR distance/space will no longer matter because there is no time. Therefore, light could travel an infinite distance in, litterly, no time flat. It seems to me that *speed* would not be the appropriate measurement since the example I just gave seems to render *speed* worthless. So...Back to the ridiculous question:
How do you *CLOCK* FTL?

Podkletnov energy. I suggest that we ought remedy this state of affairs. High-gain gravimetry, anyone?

Clocking FTL travel ISwell documented on this site, so I suggest we stick to the new topic of Podkletov energy and gravimetric communication.

Wilson, have you heard of these experiments post WWII? Many have speculated that FTL via gravity altering machines has been experimented with and deemed dangerous and unpredictable (US NAVY SHIPS BYE-BYE) I have stated before in conversations that I believe the secret to FTL signal communication (and propulsion for that matter) lies in understanding and manipulating matter at the graviton scale. Pod energy and z-point energy are all possible examples of medium interactions that could possibly be manipulated to send signals. Cleverly, the laws of physics are not violated if systems are constructed within the boundaries of gravity's behavior. Leaving the security blanket of light communication and propulsion is the key. Can we explore that?

Point well taken, Patrick. Pardon the vitriol of my post; must have been gastric. However, in my own defense, I would say that I did not
stipulate the speed of FTL as *infinite* in my original post.

I'll use a better example here, whilst also demonstrating further the depth of my insanity with an idea on which I've been tinkering:

I ask you to put on your science fiction hat here for just a moment, and bear with me while I stretch (currently known) reality for the sake of illustration, ok?

Suppose we were to develop a way to energize, or better still, apply a torque to the rings of Saturn (hypothetically speaking, of course -- not that we are not physically advanced enough to achieve such a feat). The rings have a natural configuration which lend themselves to manipulation, a kind of tuning fork.

Suppose further that, after taking continuous measurements of the state of the rings of Neptune over a period of, say, months or years, we will have established a baseline of predictable states.

Further suppose we were to set up an observation station equidistant from our two ringed neighbors.

If, then, upon building up the energy level of Saturn's rings, and pumping that energy with pulses, a statistically significant correspondence of changes in the state of Neptune's rings were observed to match the timing of our pulses; if we also measured the
time of traversal of these effects between the Gas Giants, and found that duration to be a matter of seconds or less, whereas normally the duration would be many minutes when the two planets were thus separated, any sane observer would conclude that therefore the phenomena were being clocked at significantly greater than light speed.

Mr. Vitrone,

I am digesting your good suggestions, will post shortly.
