Form Larry,
Fascinating ...
I rest my case.
I thought you being a lawyer of some kind...
Your courtroom arguments weren't any good
Larry, all perplexed individuals rest their case sooner or latter when faced with reality.
Time to fix some cars. I got a ferrari here. O-60 in 3.5 sec. it's an "ideal" car. I propose some physicists use it in their "ideal" models.

Mr. Larry, perhaps you could educate me about how the following equation simulates reality?
8 minus 8= 0
I had 8, now I have 0, where did they go? How can something go out of existence?
Furthermore, what is infinity minus 1? Or, Infinity plus 1?
Hummm, these sure answer alot of questions I have about the physical.
The point I was making about the speed of time is that Time CANNOT stop therefore in the real, PHYSICAL, world you can't keep playing Dr. VanFlanderns "shell game" of infinite accelerations because at some point time will catch up with you.
Perhaps it is best if you rest your case Mr. Larry. If you keep spouting out your illogical, non-sense, statements then your peers may end up giving you a professional death sentence.
Just learning!

I'll tell you Magoo where did they go. They went to the safe of the rich. In the old years poor people had, let'say for example, 8 dollars and the rich came and taok it away bu force, put it in their safe and told the poor guys: It's reality, 8 minus 8 = 0, so they should believe it as a normal thing. For the rich and powerful though, 8 minus (- = 16. Also, (8 plus 8 )minus (8 minus (-) = 0, that's your conservation of matter(energy) right there. The rich got richer and the poor got nothing and energy is conserved and the rich must convince to the poor that zero is a physical process, when essentially the only time there is zero left is when someone steals something from someone else.
At the same time, the rich convinced the poor that there is infinite energy and force so they shouldn't dare to fight to take back what was stolen from them.
That's the physics of Mr. Larry. It's the physics of thieves stealing from their innocent victims.

The part Newton played in all this mess about acceleration is of little use now-300 years later and there have been 10 generations since that also made part of this mess. It may be some of the mess can be repaired if we stay on the topic and not get bogged down in drivel such as the last few posts.

I don't like people who confuse others to convey their own distorted vies of reality.
I suggest to all who think in such terms to get their sleeves up and try to fix something to get an idea of how reality works.
I don't like arm chair scientists
Better review your distorted perception of physics and engineering Larry.

These remarks are uncalled for, and are unwelcome on this Message Board.
Larry was trying to teach you some basic physics. You responded with insults when appreciation was warranted, even if you didn't agree. That isn't right.
If you don't understand a concept, ask questions, find another teacher, or read a book. If you don't like a concept, see if you can vocalize your reasons in a way that communicates well to others. If many others understand your point, they will help you find the right words to express it. If most others don't understand, consider that the fault is most likely either with the idea or the way it was expressed.
Either way, there's no shame as long as we're all here to learn. When we start saying nasty things to one another, no one is learning. -|Tom|-

Hi ALL
I realize this forum is quiet at this time, but can anyone tell me why gravity accelerates an object at all?
Why does the object not just fall at a constant velocity once the initial acceleration has been achieved?
Is this an indication that were it not for the earth being in the way an object would eventually reach the speed of the aether/graviton streaming into the planet, similar to an object thrown into a flowing river?
And if so, then does the greater accelerations of jupiter/sun etc., mean that there is a greater speed of gravity to reach for different planets ie - speed of gravity is not constant but dependant on the planet it is streaming into?
Is there any formulae for detecting the total speed of something via its acceleration alone or am I being stupid?
Cheers
David
