The important point that your statement seemed opposed to is this: As seen from a hypothetical observer on the Sun, the orbit of most comets is a circle around the sky. -|Tom|-

Not at all that-what I meant was if all the radiants were put on one line the motion would be in and out much like a yo-yo. And what I find interesting about that is the period and semimajor axis still is as per Kepler's third law. This is a 2:pi ratio for whatever that is worth for the distance traveled by the comet from a mostly round to a mostly straight on orbit which of course is hypothetical and can't happen except in the math.
