"Most biological systems, including molecular machines and even whole cells, are nonequilibrium steady states. In a nonsteady-state system, the most general case, one or more of the system's properties change in time."
- I wonder why nature behaves this way ?
This is quoted from the following site:
www.aip.org/pt/vol-58/iss-7/p43.html
I haven't read the whole article ... but came to my own conclusion.

I notice that small systems like ADP of even molecules absorb energy use some and somehow the rest is lost as heat. Or so they say. Can you supply any details of how small systems do any of this work? I'm very interested in the stuff you have been posting-the links are great.

Biological systems use exergonic and endergonic systems to maintain equilibrium. The loss of biochemical equilibrium always results in cellular death or damage. The balance of energy is indeed what we call life because this movement of energy in equilibrium is what allows for the defined conditions of life to occur, those being growth, movement, and reproduction. Heat is conserved while loss and intake occur simultaneously. In some cases, organisms can alter their energy needs to preserve their lives. Mark

Mark,
I would have to disagree with your statement that biological systems maintain equilibrium. I do not know of any such system which defies death.
The non-equilibrium of biological systems results in "aging".
The article above states: "most biological systems... are non- equilibrium steady states", I would rather say "all biological sytems..."
I would also add that <b>all systems</b> are non-equilibrium steady states with loss of energy as heat.
This is why a system accelerates, this is also the reason for Gravity. There is a link that should be made between Gravity and entropy.
Jim,
I found that article quite interesting myself. I will try to find more info.

GD,
False assumptions on both counts regarding biological regenerative genetics, and gravity being caused by entropy.
First off biological systems are programmed to die by the limited production of telomerase tags within chromosome genetic code that promote cellular regeneration. Once the tag program is gone, the cell will no longer regenerate divide and form new cells because the telomerase will no longer replace the short DNA tags that drop off the chromosome ends.
DNA controls aging and if anything the fact that life exists proves beyond a doubt that the universe has the capability of dynamic self organization of energetics. Again, this entropic model of universe is more aligned with old thinking that came out of the big bang era. With matter antimatter time waves in a balanced universe there is conservation of energy and the universe cannot be destroyed. Any annihilations self organize into forward and reverse time waves that provide a balanced state that is in equalibrium.
Gravity has nothing to do with entropy. Gravity has more to do with resonance states that are dimensional causing either attraction or repulsion. In forward time motion, there is a greater mass attractive force that has more to do with the location of the juxtaposition of time waves on a dimensional curvature between the two universes. This is a balanced state and is a universal force that exceeds the speed of light and has nothing at all to do with local energetics because it is a dimensional wide phenomenon.
John

John,
My assumptions are correct, and I will try to prove my point further as I get more information in this changing world of physics.
You guys are a hard bunch to convince!
Stay tuned.
Regards, GD
