LB, I'm sorry for any damage done to your sand castles. It seems to me your beach is located on the sea of deep do-do though and it is that stuff-well you know. As for contributing-every time I suggest anything it gets hi-jacked. Like SN events being the cause of evidence TVF used to construct this thread(BTW, You seem to be hi-jacking this thread) I may be wrong and really appreciate feedback to the contrary.

An apology for that is not necessary. We build these castles so that others can try to knock them down. They are easy enough to put back up. Unless they don't deserve to be put back up.

My point is that if you aren't willing to give us an occasional crack at one of YOUR castles (AKA model or theory) it's kind of unsportsmanlike to go around kicking the others' castles. That does need an apology IMO.

But only make one if you agree. (Besides, we'd much rather see some of your castles. And take a kick or two at them.)

<b>[Jim] "... SN events being the cause of evidence TVF used to construct this thread ..."</b>

Please define 'thread'. To me it means the series of individual posts within a topic.

Here is the way I see this message board's structure:
<ul>Message Board
<ul>Category
<ul>Forum
<ul>Topic
<ul>Thread (a series of individual posts/replies)</ul></ul></ul></ul></ul>

This post I'm writing now is a reply to another post (yours) within a Topic. All of our posts/replies together comprise a thread. TVF did not construct any of the replies in this thread.

The Topic is titled "Extra Gas Giants". TVF did not construct this Topic. That was done by a member from South Africa named Rudolph.

This Topic is within a Forum titled "Origin of the Solar System". TVF did construct this forum. But supernovas have very little to do with the formation of solar systems.
<ul>They are believed to be the source of some of the heavier elements in GMCs (giant molecular cloud), and they are also believed to be able to trigger the initial collapse of a GMC under some conditions.</ul>
Perhaps you got this forum/topic/thread confused with one of the others that does rely on SN data?

And finally - you are the one that moved this thread off of its original subject. We were comparing what several different sand castles (theories, models) say about solar system formation and you jumped in with your usual "all of your sand castles are wrong, including the ones you haven't talked about, and we'll never figure out anything until you drop them" shtick. And then, of course, you just left.

We chuckled. "That Jim ..."

I'm referring to the original topics as designed by TVF including the origin and evolution of the solar system. While you say SN events have nothing to do with this-I suspect SN events had a lot of effects on the development of our solar system even if no one yet knows this. Clearly as TVF has explained many tidbits of data indicate things have happened that don't quite make sense without resorting to "if only" events like his hypothesis(EPH). It seems to me a nearby SN event is much more logical cause of many if not all of these mysteries. The way this SN event unfolds is very interesting to me.

OK, but if you used the right words for what you were talking about we could communicate a lot better.

And, it would also help if you would quote others accurately

<ul>
LB -- supernovas <u>have very little to do with</u> the formation of solar systems ...
Jim - you say SN events <u>have nothing to do with</u> this ...
</ul>You blatantly lied about what I said. It looks like a small thing. But in fact it is not. The difference between none and some is quite large.

How common are planetary explosions? We do not know.

As we have gazed out at the universe over the decades, we have seen a LOT of explosions. What percentage of them were stars, and what percentage of them were planets?

Jim, would you care to make a guess? And, would you care to tell us why you have this opinion?

It's time for you to build a castle, Jim. (I promise I will be gentle.)

I'm sorry for misquoting you about the roll SN events in the evolution of the solar system. Very sorry about my misuse of words. I can't say it won't happen again so, I'm sorry about that too. Sorry for any and all grammatical errors past, present, future. I'll look into wearing a hair shirt starting after the new year to fix the problem.

Look, Jim, I'm not looking for apologies. The biblical hair shirt is not needed. In fact it is counter-productive. I'm trying to figure out why you always tear things down and then never offer an alternative.

Help me understand. What should we do instead of what we have been doing? If ALL of the models we use today are so bad, which OTHER models should we be using instead?

Take a stand ... build a sand castle. Or two ... or three.

Sure, it might be kicked down by someone. (Some one like you?) But that is NOT the end of the world. It is, in fact, how you grow.

It is how you find out if you actually have a f*ck*ng clue what you are talking about.

Worst case is ... you discover that you don't. BFD - but obviously it sucks to find this out about yourself. So then you just dig deeper and try to figure out why the world (of science, of politics, of religion, or of any other aspect) is falling apart.

Because it is. All of it.

And then you start to look for the <u>real</u> answers. Take a stand, Jim. Stop telling us what is wrong, start telling us what is right.
