Dangus,

After I got my physics degree I realized that there wasn't much future in physics for someone that thought their boss was wrong about many things.

So I went back to school and got a degee in engineering.

It worked out pretty well. Engineers have no choice but to use the stuff that works. Sure, we talk about the mathemagical theories and it is good fun. But when push comes to shove and you HAVE to get a product out the door, you fall back on Newton and Lorentz. Most real stuff is built using linear approximations for theory plus a little cut-and-try to reach the last few meters. (Just don't forget to sweep the left overs under the rug.)

I gotta call you out on part of that Larry. Engineers don't "have to" use what works. After all, that Dr. Brown guy Unworthy1 was quoting so much has a PhD in engineering ;) haha
