<BLOCKQUOTE id=quote><font size=2 face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" id=quote>quote:<hr height=1 noshade id=quote>[Mac]: By what authority or basis can you state that "........because I've defined then straight. ..........slightest, I would demand a straight replacement,......"; makes your view reality.

You are basing your argument upon your view, more importantly your assumption that straight is reality.

What other basis can you offer, other than your opinion, that space is not curved and cannot curve?<hr height=1 noshade id=quote></BLOCKQUOTE id=quote></font id=quote><font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica" size=2 id=quote>

Define what you mean by the word "curved".

I suggest to you that it has no physical meaning unless it is relative to something not curved. The "not curved" something is what I mean by "straight", which is classically defined as the shortest distance between two points.

If you show me anything you say is curved, such as a line between two points on Earth's surface, I'll just stretch my taut rope between the same two points, clearing all obstacles (such as solid Earth) out of the way first. I will then have a straight line right through the Earth.

I cannot imagine anything curved in reality without something straight also existing. Isolated curvature has no meaning in physics. -|Tom|-

Tom,

Straight to me is the path of least resistance. In that sense a charged particle in a loop or an object in circular orbit (curved or gravity contour path) is going straight.

To not follow such a path generates a force of acceleration on an object. Straight by a ruler is not necessarily straight in terms of physics.

Im-A-Dummy,

My point is that that is only a straight line in a purely mechanical sense. If one is plotting gravity forces along such a line it is a curve. A physics straight line by gravity (assuming no bumps or lumps which there are) would be a great arc along the surface.

To deviate from that arc produces a force equivelent to acceleration or not going straight. F = ma. Einstein: Gravity and Acceleration are one and the same. So creating the force by not following the path of least resistance is equivelent to acceleration or a change in direction or velocity - not going straight in physical terms.

This is another topic I came through but I am having a hard time.

Still I see persons saying like "I am a dummy, I am just learning!" or "I am an idiot, I fix cars, time to fix cars"...

Why you need to HIDE themselves in those kind of nick-names? It is clear to me that both of you are neither kinda dummy nor idiots. You probably are just HIDDING themselves to make people bad when they can not answer questions coming from "an idiot". Also, in the case of you are people who work in the area, but with different models of the Universe, it is easy to try to ridicularize the person (Tom) who are pruposing another model.

Sarcastically, one of them (the "dummy") had put two smiles after got a conclusion that "MM can not model reality". It does not matter if MM is right or wrong but that kind of attitude is repugnant!

Anybody here really think that "an idiot" would come in a physical message board and make questions to an experiented physicist about the nature of our Universe? And still purpose that such a model is wrong?

I-am-dummy and Mechanic: Do you think all people here are "idiot" to believe that YOU are "idiot"?

Folks, IT IS TIME TO GROW UP. Let the childhood behind you!

Rush, I'm 40 years old, I fix cars for living and when it comes to cosmology I consider myself both an idiot and a dummy. If others think I'am not, it's a real compliment to me and I'll thank them for that but I won't call them "idiot". I'll call them idiots if they insist I'm considering myself an "idiot" just to make others think like an idiot about subject matters other than cosmology. Got it?

Time to fix some cars.
