Posting hyperlinks

See post #1 of " Stellar Oscillations ". The first URL's in that post is four characters wider than my maximized window at 1280 x 1024 resolution. Even with the Author colum off the left side of the screem, I still can't fit the message text on the screen. That one link forces me to scroll back and forth for the entire page.

It's not the editing box I'm talking about. Its the final post, displayed with HTML on. The size of the editing box depends on what Screensize you select at the top of the box when editing.

The Internet Explorer default color for unvisited links is blue---the same as this board's background color. To make unvisited links visible, the web designer had to assign a new color. Evidently, he chose white---the same as regular text. So unvisited links don't stand out as much as they might if he had chosen yellow, for example.

I was hoping for a WYSIWYG editor with a dialog box for creating hyperlinks. Surely you have used something like that on other websites or in your offline word processors, like MS Word or Wordperfect. It could be expensive to license the software. Maybe I expect too much.

The automatic conversion of a URL to a link displays the whole URL when the message is posted to the board, which is the problem that inspired this thread. Sometimes the URL is just too d--n long. The FAQ section shows what the hyperlink should look like in the editing window. I'm just breaking down the steps you need to follow to get there.
