Anyway, she had much the same position as your professor. She very irate and basically saying "I've studied way too much science to take this kind of wacko theory seriously". She became increasingly irate and I called her crazy and she made me get out of the truck and then after I walked a little way she came at me with it. haha
It just goes to show how absolutely fanatic people will get in defense of the status quo. Science teachers who she respected taught her things I was telling her were mostly wrong, and that to her means I was disrespecting her teachers. To me though, if those teachers are so respectable, the science is the most important thing, not their pride. If Meta Model is proven totally wrong tomorrow, conclusively, I will not feel bad. I will feel that this branch of science has still contributed to the questioning of accepted ideas and the exploration of new ideas. To me that's the beauty of science. Being wrong a whole bunch of times is quite okay. I mean, Thomas Edison's research team tried tens of thousands of ideas before they figured out to use a carbon filament. I believe Edison himself said something like "I don't see it as thousands of failures, but rather proof of thousands of ways in which you should not make a lightbulb"(or something close to that).
