Biased, unbiased, I don't care. I just want feedback from highly intelligent people. I'll take it all:<img src=icon_smile.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_cool.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_blush.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_wink.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_clown.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_blackeye.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_8ball.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_sad.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_shy.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_shock.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_angry.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_sleepy.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_kisses.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_dissapprove.gif border=0 align=middle> <img src=icon_smile_question.gif border=0 align=middle>

This is a question for the mediator of the forums.
I'm doing some research and it would be greatly appreciated if I could get some unbiased feedback from highly intelligent people rather than fanatics. In respect of this forum, is it okay to discuss theology in the forum?

I vote no. This is primarily a scientific website that deals with things that can be tested and proven/disproven, this is like going to a website devoted to cats and trying to get everyone to talk about dragsters.

Being a teacher sitting uponst the buckle of the bible belt here in the great state of NC, I say, please no more theology. Evidently my suggestion to my students that the solar system is more than 6000 years old has subjugated me to an eternity spent pulling a pitchfork from my a** in a very exothermic environment. Of course only satire is mentioned above, however the age of the solar system thing was true and came from the mouth of a 4.0 student. Thats scary folks

My opinion pretty much coincides with what's been said already. But I'd add this: I'm for freedom of speech, so if someone wants to make a religious observation, if they feel it relates to the subject, I say they have a right to do so. But you shouldn't then have any great expectaions that the train of the discussion is going to take a theological turn. As moderators, Mark and I would reserve the right to set limits, or even to edit directions we don't think are appropriate.
This is a science website, but not a mainstream science website. I'll give one simple example of what I mean. The Big Bang theory is certainly religious in it's implications, (creation out of nothing, I can't remember the Latin phrase Tom used). I wouldn't want to over rule anyone's desire to discuss things like that. Neil
