I have a tape which someone sent me, on the subject of Hoagland addressing the UN on artificial structures on Mars—in particular, the Face. At first it seemed interesting, but then he digressed into a discussion of various esoteric subjects, including the pyramids of Egypt, and doors to other dimensions, which converged at a certain longitude and latitude by way of a certain geometrical shape, with doors on Mars, (at the Face of course), on Jupiter, and Earth, among other places. This was all presented in all seriousness, in the name of science.

The point is, that if logic, verifiability, and correspondence to reality matter in science, (not to mention honesty and integrity), then Hoagland has disqualified himself. I for one see no reason to examine any further evidence of his. Unless of course, he agrees to give up his old tricks. Neil

Hello, everybody...... sorry about the delay in getting back to the posted requests from several of you regarding replicating Hoaglands images using the ENVI software --- I've been extremely busy, then was on vacation. Ok, I agree with Atko in general, insofar as any enhanced imagery/ data is concerned.... this is the real crux of the matter, isn't it? KISS principle in action: go to
www.enterprisemission.com/tale.htm -- then, download the image at the top (tale1.jpg). Finally, look at the top section (supposedly real) --- with your eyes only, using no enhancements, just zoom in. The anomolies present in Hoagland images courtesy of ENVI are easily visible in this lossy, low grade image. Kind of rules out anything done with the image post download, i.e. software patterns induced, etc. If you want, I can detail the steps I used in the ENVI package to approximate the Hoagland results..... when I can get a little more free time. I don't put too much faith in anyones statement of an images veracity (pro or con) because it really comes down to skill, intelligence and the proper tools.... basically, you can create images indistinguishable from a "real" one. Incidentally, I e-mailed "Enterprise" for a full size copy of the "real" image, a lossless TIFF -- still no reply. Guess I will try again. The ENVI package is pretty impressive, but the trial version has a 7 minute time limit... if you feel like playing with it, you might take notes as you go and work with a powerful pc.... you can d/l it at www.rsinc.com/index.asp ? -- only 134 megs! As I mentioned, the whole argument comes down to the source/ integrity of this image.. a few more shots of the area in question would be helpful, esp. if they were released in real time, with no delay. I'm not a conspiracy person, and personally I disagree with and don't usually think too much of Hoaglands opinions..... on the other hand a little basic research should make anyone rather...... distrustful of NASA, et.al -- they've obviously lied and been caught doing so on quite a few issues. As such, I don't think we can really prove anything, either way until 1.)we have someone else controlling the data acqusition 2.)real time, immediate release of data as it is recieved. Both unlikely, I know..... the fact that everything coming in from Mars is encrypted also makes me wonder. Look at the data available out there at various sites(MSSS, NASA,JPL etc.) -- do a little homework and then THINK FOR YOURSELF -- your results may vary, but they surely wont match up with much of the tripe coming from our experts -- as skeptical as I am, it's pretty obvious something important is on Mars; the question is, will we ever really know exactly what that is??

Uncompressed Tiff is back up at Enterprise Mission, I never could get the link to work before... maybe it was down a few weeks ago due to server overload. You can d/l it at www.enterprisemission.com/images/20020724A-REAL.tif
Look it over visually, no enhancements, you can see what I referred to in my last post. Guess I will explain my steps using ENVI when I get time. Hope it provokes some interesting thoughts/ commentary!

I think it is important to view this image in context of findings by other anomalists including TVF, Bullitt, Carlotto etc. when considering it's significance.

Perhaps no single image of possible artificiality on Mars is compelling if viewed alone but as a body of evidence the accumulated findings of the half dozen or so serious anomaly hunters present a very compelling case for the existence of artificial structures on Mars.

I find this Themis image particularly interesting because the rectilinear shapes that are evident are very suggestive of the results I have achieved when processing some of the Mars images of other areas with the threshold function.

This image is so overprocessed that one could see anything in it. If you are going to reach this far down to the pixel level I am sure I could find similar level of artificiality in an image of a sunspot.
