Greg, George, and Neil: I have sent emails through this message board to the three of you regarding this topic. I think the three of you have done a great job with this feature, and I find myself in agreement with many of your theories. I am doing a webpage review of the crown face where I colorize many of the finds that you guys have already made, and offer some new ones of my own. I have emailed you guys the link so you can preview it before I put it up for the general public.
I am also asking permission from you to use some images you produced. In Neil's case I have used his original key of the "Barbara" to produce a slide show detailing where the crown face is in relation to the "Barbara" face. I have also used two images I found at George Haas site, which are more peripherally related, but which I think answers a larger question. I hope you guys will take a look, and offer any corrections, suggestions, and other feedback when you get the chance. My email address is marsrocks@gmail.com and the link to the site is in the email I have sent to each of you.

Thanks.

WOW....nice find Marsrocks.

The first bird (on the left) may be a crow or a raven. The head and parted beak is quite visible, however the body appears eroded and I dont think the tail feathers are as long as you illustrate.

The second bird (on the right) appears to be a parrot, which is very well defined. I can see the rounded head, eye, beak, neck, folded wing and body. Both legs are also visible.

Your colorized profile - over the original Crown Face may be an alternate perspective. The idea of profiles over frontal views is a common motif in Mesoamerican iconography and in the artwork of Picasso.

Very nice.

Hi Marsrocks,

The area around the birds is interesting and hard to work out. I assume it is much more heavily eroded. Here was my interpretation, the idea is that this is another face similar to the Crowned Face but mostly buried. I overlaid the Crowned Face onto this area and it fits fairly well, but there is no way to prove anything.

On this page:

the feature in red used to look like a snake head to me. It may be eroded from something else though. The third image on the page is where I have overlaid the Crowned Face over this area, it is similar to the area over the left eye of the Crowned Face. So my theory is this area was a third face that is more eroded, give 3 Crowned Faces.

If they were intended to move from one to the other over the course of a day, standing out with shadows I referred to them as the morning noon and evening faces with somewhat different facial expressions.

No one knows of course if this is artificial let alone faces, birds, etc. I would suggest looking along the rest of the cliff faces of this valley and see what else you find.

Zipmonster, thanks. Very interesting. It would be neat to see some other examples of that type of mesoamerican art, because I think it really adds to the intelligent design concept that we believe is at work here.

gorme, your overlays are interesting. My first thought is that the artist is lightly echoing or shadowing the main art to give it apparent depth.

There is another profile face image to the left that I noticed, however, it is almost completely flat - lacking the depth and contour we see in the main crown face, and therefore highly suspect. I'll put it up here just for discussion purposes:

This figure does have the same hat as the other characters. It also interlocks with the left side inclusion. Note that one of the bird tails crosses his nose and the bird makes up a part of the cap, similarly to the bird to the right which makes up a part of the cap of the closer inclusion face to the left of the main face.

The originally discovered face seems plausible because it does not have distortions or exaggerations of facial features and there are quite a number of these features. Sort of "serious art".

But, what is the scale here? 100 meters? 1,000 meters? 10,000 meters?

The size may indicate whether this is a serious effort or simply "graffiti". No sarcasm intended here.
