I agree that this should not be a place for religious arguments but this board is, after all, the theory of everything, science and religion. What is valid is not so much whether historical and contemporary religious viewpoints are correct, or closer to reality than science, or whether one is better than the other. My point is, before the time of Galileo religion WAS science and we should not throw out the baby with the bath water. The religious theories of creation of the universe were not any more far-fetched than the scientific ones are now.
We are being asked to believe by mainstream science that nothing moves faster than light, except for the WHOLE universe just after the big bang. Okay, but Genesis says darkness was followed by light, then darkness was divided from light. Then there was solid in the midst of liquid and when the solids came together they formed the land and from the liquids the stars were formed. On the land life rose up in the oceans, then on the dry land until all the animals were there, followed by man.
This is a good description of the big bang followed by evolution of life on earth and it is spelled out in the first chapter of the bible. Is it a religious notion to say that we believe in FTL gravity without real proofs? Is it heresy to say the bible spells out evolution? Does it really matter? The truth does not require our belief to exist. We only look for it wherever it may be hidden and what really gets my goat is that we all seem to be saying the same thing, including the 'You are wrong' part.
