Well, if you speak in terms of money "missing", north's first
answer is as good as yours I believe, although it didn't
quite fit the wording of the problem. There's actually no
missing dollar so 33 cents or 66 cents would both be wrong
answers anyway. Jrich's answer is more correct since he/she
acknowledged the fact that no money was missing.
I think this is a good example of the problem with SR however.
The missing dollar is a result of combining two opposing starting
assumptions to deduct a conclusion. One assumption is that
$30 was the original amount paid, while the second (although hidden)
assumption was that the original amount paid was $28.
