Meta,

While I don't want to seem impertinent or rude, I can think of no other way to say this than to just say it.

You are making a bunch of statements as though they are fact and it appears you are talking through your hat. The following is just a few of the over 18,000 url's that pop up on the subject of colliding stars.

But Dear Mac,

I have searched a good portion of those 18,000 URLs to 18,000 pictures of 18 billion galaxies and nowhere could I, or you, find one single picture of two stars or two planets colliding. The "bunch of statements" that you say I believe are facts, cannot and will not be overturned with any evidence whatsoever of two like bodies colliding. Why do you say I am talking through my hat when you have no evidence that I am doing so? I believe you simply want my facts to disappear which is the best way science deals with what they dont want to hear.

Just because 18,000 scientists in 18,000 links say that stars collide does not make it true.

mETA,

ANS:No evicence. To say that you have to reject the opinion of experts that disagree with you. They say they have evidence. The see the immediate remanants of such collisions and the chemical and atomic results of such collisions (i.e. the formation of gold etc.)

They have binary stars with spiraling orbits that are known mathematically and logically that will collide one day. To claim that the absence of a picture of the actual collision means no collisions have occured is shear nonesense.

It is the equivelent of a policeman coming to an accident between cars and saying I didn't see this happen therefore there has been no accident. You surely have more common sense than this.

YOu lie when you say "your facts" you have absolutely none. I can say lthis with absolute confidence since by principle alone it is impossible to prove a negative.

Unlike apparently you, I have no expectation or desire to hear anything. I could care less if stars collide or not but the fact is there is absolutely no basis to suggest that they have not nor that they will not and there is ample evidence that they have and will.

Beyond that you are free to believe in whatever you chose; including the Easter Bunny or Tooth Fairy but don't come on here pretending to know something you clearly do not.

ANS: I can accept tht ratio as being fair. 18,000 knowledgable people in opposition to one apparently disillusioned person not skilled in the topic.

Thank you. Don't bother responding, you have given me enough basis to place you on ignore, in that you have nothing to contribute to an actual intelligent discussion of the subject.

Meta, you seem so quick to say that we have no proof that it HAS ever happened, yet YOU YOURSELF have no proof that it hasn't, merely statements that when you boil it down to it's true meaning your just saying "huh uh, it's never happened". Show me ABSOLUTE proof that it has never happened, and I will believe you. O and btw, explosions THAT far away may NOT be that readily visible. Even so, not every single star within the universe is in our sight. Perhaps it has happened to them. You would basically have to be omnipotent and lived FOREVER (not getting religious or anything :-P) to know wheter or not a star has EVER collided. You say just because 18,000 scientists believe it has does not make it true, just because YOU (1 PERSON!!!!!), say it has NEVER happened, does NOT make it true, THANK YOU END OF DISCUSSION

Getting a little hot under the collar arent you boys?

Thats right, it cant even be proven either way, for or against.
Let me ask you this....

Why do you give any heed, at all, to anyones theory about colliding stars or planets when it i beyond the ability to understand?

Just where do you keep your magic wand stored. How is it possible that you can even think such a thing is unprovable? Having not been proven in the past (which I would assume means photographed in the actual process) is no basis what-so-ever for claiming it will not be so proven at some point in the future. There is simply no basis to make such a statement other than the wrongful conclusion that it has not and cannot happen.

Once again, "Beyond who's ability?" I certainly see no problem with understanding the process. You clearly are speaking for yourself and are applying (imposing) your belief on everyone else.

Now I have a question. I don't even see the signifigance of your concern about such events. Can you explain why this issue is important to you and how you have arrived at what, at least for me, is an erroneous conclusion without any basis what-so-ever?
