Is it just me, or are these message fora lacking life? Where are the nematodes when you need them?

Come on, people, breathe a little life into this abysmal place!

Here's a suggestion: (1) design a circuit, and software to run it, which would effectively produce FTL.

Suggestion (2) [perhaps combinable with suggestion (1)]: you have seen the simple experiment which demonstrates a photon's existence in two places at once, effectively split. Can anyone suggest a way to design and build experiment (1) to incorporate fiber optics or (preferably) laser, so that the output we measure from the circuit can be transmitted to a remote receiver, or reflected off a remote surface (say, the moon), respectively? We know that this is what the naysayers, who hold the keys to the scientific mainstream's vault
want to see. Let us build such an experiment, and let them debunk it if they can. If it's built wisely (assuming it can be built) they will be unable.

Come on, people, move your ass off the dime and get out the doldrums!

My apologies for the twitchy mouse finger that gave rise to my first post. I'm quite sure everyone had already read Samizdat's call for more life.

I have an intellectual tool I've devised that I'd like to introduce that seems entirely appropriate for a list titled, "paradoxes resolved, origins illuminated." This pertains to the resolution of paradoxes wherever they are found, so I think any number of you may find this useful. I recently completed what I will assert to be the first completely integrated theory of economics. This has not yet been published anywhere as yet, but if anyone is curious, I will be happy to send them a PDF of this theory, titled (of course) Post Paradox Economics. --aparadox@mctcnet.net. Just write 'paradox' in the subject line.

You probably feel this is diversionary for a list devoted to physics; but give me a moment. I was able to do this by resolving the nature of paradox itself, and then applying this to the problem of inflation and unemployment; which, as you know, represents an unresolved chicken-and-egg problem for the Federal Reserve; secondly, I asked myself the question: when did the economic process really begin? The results of these two inquiries ultimately leads one to the conclusion that the study and process of economics is really only a branch of physics, --which explains why economics have never been abel to devise a theory of money to explain the underlying dynamics of an economic system.

The fascinating nature of paradoxes is that they are really all the same problem. That is, they do not exist in nature, but are all created only by a particular mode of thought and, consequently, all share the same basic form: they always spring from some unresolved duality on a continuum: mind and matter; time and space; particles and waves; unemployment and inflation. Which 'came first' nerves or sensation? --that sort of thing. They are all transposed versions of the classic chicken-and-egg poser.

I've come to realize that the chicken-and egg riddle has a general solution, and this hinges on our perception of in-what-way these --or any two apparent opposites-- are really the same thing. The sequential nature of the perception that forms the paradox in the first place is thus overcome and a more encompassing overview emerges. Since scientific paradoxes are really nested within one another, their progressive resolution as they are encountered leads to an increasingly inclusive perspective.

As a general challenge --not of course overlooking the entertainment value :) -- I would like to apply this to a range of topics more specifically suited to the interests of this list. I, myself have a quite personal interest in such apparently diverse topics as the internal dynamics of particle spin, the nature of consciousness, gravitation and time.

Is this what you had in mind, Fred? :)
