I havent posted here in a long time but still get some e-mails. The discussion is about dimensionless numbers. Clearly they arise whenever two measurements which are of the same concept, such as speed here, are compared. The result is a ratio.
My view of gravity is that it is a long wave radiation and travels at the speed C like all other EM radiation. Thus comparing the speed of gravity with that of light gives the dimensionless number 1. That makes it an especially pure number.
For Alan's posting of 2008: Regarding the topic header, the static universe and the arrow of time, I promote and support the static universe. Cosmological redshift is gravitational effects upon light beams by the source body and by the receiving body(s). My external gravity pressure beams are the structure of space and travel at speed C, enabling the to carry EM radiation. Masses are gradually created and built by bent gravity beams and they grow over time. The arrow of time exists for any particular mass and that is sufficient for the earth to come into existence and for all local events to follow sequentially. It should not matter that gravity beams have existed infinitely long in infinite space.
