This "power point", I gather it is a viewing system, but do I need to down load this from Microsoft, the help I got from Dell mentioned that I may have to buy office XP from them. Or can I down load it from Microsoft.

The viewer is included on the CD. The instructions in "Gravity Intro.htm" state:

To view these files, select the PowerPoint viewer in the "Presentations" folder ... <PowerPlugs player.exe> ... Then select the name of the PowerPoint file you wish to view. "StartUp.ppt" is one possible starting point. ...

Let me know if these directions are not clear as you try to follow them. -|Tom|-

I recently taught a friend who is (uh, was) also very computer illiterate. I had to learn how to explain things that I hadn't thought about for over a decade. He is doing well now. Perhaps I can help here as well.

Sounds like the E drive is the right one for this particular computer.

Since you can see where it " ... lists all the folders etc. ... " on the E drive, you should be able to follow the folling three steps:

A) left-click on the FOLDER called "Presentations"
(this should cause a new list of folders and files to be displayed)

B) Find the FILE callled "PowerPlugs player.exe" in this new list. Left-click on it.
(folders almost always use a yellow icon in the shape of a file folder)
(file icons can be almost anything)
(.)
(this should run the player program for PowerPoint.)
(when it runs, it should display a list of files that it finds on the CD)

C) You should be able to left-click on any of the files listed by the PP player (such as the one called "StartUp.ppt") and then be able to view that file.

<crossed fingers>,
LB

(if a single click doean't work, try a double click)

This is an actual bug in the directions. The file you are looking for was moved up front, and is listed with the other files in alphabetical order. -|Tom|-

So in step A above he should look for "PowerPlugs player.exe" rather than "Presentations"?
